Tick control works on the cracks in the property, not only on the animal
Treating the dog and stopping there is why tick problems return. The brown dog tick spends most of its life cycle off the animal, in wall cracks, skirting gaps and kennel joints. The animal is where you see them; the property is where they live.
How to tell you have ticks
- Ticks found on the animal after time in the garden or on a terrace.
- Small dark specks in a wall crack, a skirting gap, or the joints of a kennel.
- Ticks crawling on a wall, which means the population is off-animal and established.
- The animal scratching at the ears and between the toes.
- Activity concentrated where the animal sleeps rather than where it plays.
Why supermarket sprays do not work
A spot-on treatment protects the animal and does nothing to the cracks the ticks return to. That is why an animal treated monthly can still pick up new ticks in the same house. And a surface spray on a terrace does not reach into the joint of a wall or the underside of a kennel board, which is exactly where the engorged females go to lay.

What we cannot do
We do not treat the animal itself. That is a vet's job and we will say so. If the animal keeps picking up ticks from a shared garden or a walking route, the property treatment holds but the source outside it does not change.
How the price is set
Two things set it: the floor area, and how far the infestation has spread by the time we inspect. A flat with a single focus point is not the same job as a villa with activity on two floors, and the gap between them is wide.
